I had to ask myself this question. Am I being robbed? Is all this rushing and fussing robbing my joy and stressing my kids? I am by far No Perfect Momma, and I certainly make plenty of mistakes. So yes in the craziness of busy mornings with my children, rushing trying to get their teeth brushed, hair combed, faces washed, while they’re crying, tired, winning, falling back to sleep, tantruming, rushing and fussing is all too familiar. The morning struggle is real and it’s not very easy to keep the peace. See I have a bad habit of rushing my family. I don’t like being late. I’m always the first one ready and I wake up the earliest, (hours early) lol but when I’m ready, I’m ready and I start rushing everybody who’s not. They all hate it lol, so by the time we all get in the car everybody is irritated, have a attitude, sad or upset! Now that’s a problem and Let me just get “real spiritual on yall real quick! “Rushing Is Of The Devil”! LOL no I only kidding but, it definitely disrupts the peace in our home, and literally sucks the joy right out of us and the people around us. When all we really just need to do is calm down and have a little patience. Sometimes we can get so in a hurry, so antsy and irritated but the scripture tells us to be anxious for nothing. One morning the Holy Spirit spoke to me, (not audibly but quietly to my spirit), right in the middle of me rushing my son for school and he said “Stop rushing him!, keep your peace!, if he miss the school bus, drive him to school.” If he miss breakfast, feed him at home. ”If he miss morning recess well, remind him that in order to make recess we have to be there on time.” I realized I was so worried about all these things but didn’t realize rushing and fussing was robbing me and my family of our peace and sucking the Joy out of my home! I listened to the Holy Spirit and made some changes. I find it so amazing that he is there to help us and guide us with the minor things we face on a daily basis. Now when I feel we’re about to start running a little behind schedule I just politely tell my son “hey! we’re going to miss morning recess if we’re not ready on time. To my amazement that works much better than rushing and fussing ever did! He makes sure every morning that he does not miss recess. It has been a blessing every since, we have much more peaceful mornings, not to mention I am effectively teaching my son the responsibility of being on time.
There is nothing like having a relationship with Jesus. I mean that from the bottom of my heart. I just want to encourage you guys to never let anything or anyone disrupt the peace in your home or life. Your circumstances may be completely different, you may be rushing for work or in traffic, but the point is, the Holy Spirit is there to help us and give us practical advice if we let him. This may seem small and insignificant but it’s those small foxes that destroy the vine. The little things that build up over time came become big things and just a little leaven, leavens the whole lump. If you’re just like I was or find yourself always rushing everybody. Remember this! Patience is truly a virtue” it has been said ‘Patience is not just the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while you wait.” thats awesome. I’m learning to be patient everyday, and trust me when I say I am no pro at the art of patience but with Christ I’m striving and you can too!
Every now and then I get tempted to start rushing again but, I remember what the lord spoke to me and I remember it’s not worth our joy or peace. So now I pray right in that moment and ask God for patience and that’s what I encourage you to do as well.
