Quality time with the family is different than just being in the same room together. It is actually engaging in conversations, laughing, connecting and bonding with each other. In this day and age most of us are extremely busy. We are pulled in so many different directions ( facebook, social media, online games, videos and etc). The majority of our free time is spent with our heads down into our phones. Even our kids are preoccupied with online games. Quality time with the family is almost non existent. So I came up with a few easy ways to spend quality time on a day to day basis that helps me plan time with my family.
First things first, be intentional about your time. Chances are, if you don’t purposely scheduled in your planner or to do list specific times to spend with your family, you will easily overlook it. So write it down! You can schedule play dates, date nights, family movie nights or whatever activities you normally do with your family. Just Schedule Them!! Using a planner helps me to keep myself accountable. Everyday when I look into my planner it reminds me of my true priorities and the things that are most important to me.
Secondly, add some value to your everyday activities by incorporating the family; include your kids in your house work, do the laundry together, wash dishes together, cook dinner together! I know sometimes they get in the way, make a huge mess or just don’t know what they are doing. However, with patience you can use these opportunities to teach your childeren new skills, Which adds value to an simple activity and can applied in their future endeavors. So its definitely worth a try.
and Last but not least, create routines in your life that everyone does together. Routines are actions you would normally take Everyday during a specific time. (For example a morning routine can include brushing your teeth and eating breakfast). Began to use this time to engage in conversations with your family. Think of routines you can do together. Start a family devotion, pray together, have a bath time routine and or bedtime routine. Once you have a solid routine just be intentional about communicating and being present in the moment. Enjoy the simple things and memorable moments. You will surely be grateful you did!!
I hope these tips really helped you find quality time to spend with your family.
